Next Generation Warriors organized the 2017 edition of "Fighters of the Caribbean" October 21st, supervised by CUMAFE (Curacao Martial Arts Federation).
The main event was not only a high level one, but also a very special one.
YDK (Yiu di Korsou) Cedric Bacuna (40) who fought worldwide more than 80 Muay Thai and kickboxing fights, fought his farewell fight on his own island, su dushi Korsou.
Cedric won many great fighters, like the world champion Wanlop Sitpholek (Thailand), multiple world champion L'houcine "Aussie" Ouzgni and the Championship belt of the WMTA (World Muay Thai Association) in the A-class Middleweight (-72,5 kg.).
Most of the times fighters get an easy opponent for their farewell fight, but Cedric's opponent is not an easy one at all. Jonasky Sojo La Maquina is a professional fighter from Venezuela, undefeated in Thai-kickboxing with 15 victories and 1 draw, in MMA 7 wins and 3 losses, in boxing 11 victories and only 1 defeat and in Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) 25 wins and 2 losses.

Grego Scharbaai (72 kg, 23 years) of Baas Sports Curacao made MMA pro debut against Venezuelan Antonio Jose Castillo Robles (70 kg, 23 years), which had that moment already seven professional MMA fights and a Muay Thai record of 5 wins and 1 loss.
Grego Scharbaai fought twice an amateur MMA fight in the cage, but fought more bouts in the ring as a boxer (4) and as Thai-kickboxer (5). Scharbaai recently made a good impression by convincingly defeating his opponent from the Netherlands in Thai boxing bout during the Honor Fight League.

November 2017 AIBA 3 star referee James Beckles from Trinidad & Tobago gave a 6-days during course for referees and judges of the Curacao Boxing Association (CuraBox). 3 stars is the highest level of the international boxing association AIBA and Mr. Beckles is without a doubt the best in the Caribbean if it comes to refereeing, judging and sharing his knowledge and experience.
Edwin Baas, president of the Curacao Boxing Association, is very satisfied. Next to the participants that graduated, he’s also grateful towards the boxers that did a great job during the bouts for the practical exams. Joey Gogulski, Grego Scharbaai, Ginuwine Mercelina, Ray Maharaj, Curlyson Winklaar, Jack Denzel Mc Aully, Chris Elliott and Davino de Palm.

And last but not least. In 2017 Baas made boxing/fighting more accessible to more people.
People with disabilities, like the ones who use wheelchairs, have the same needs as everyone else. With “FightAble VechtersBaas” we help to satisfy those needs and under the right supervision they get the exercise their bodies require and the confidence they need to succeed in different aspects of life.
We don’t focus on the disabilities, we focus on the abilities because there is so much they CAN do.
