2011 was a great year for Baas Sports Curacao. The fighters in Muay Thai kickboxing, boxing, and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) were in Curacao, but also in Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba, Martinique and Sint Maarten.

March 26 2011 a delegation of Baas Sports Curacao participated in Trinidad at Thai-kickboxing event with the main card "Trinidad & Tobago vs Curacao", which was convincingly won by Curacao.
Joost Mulder (Baas Sports Curacao) won Keron Bourne (T&T) by TKO 2nd round.
Jamal el Otmani (Baas Sports Curacao) won Anthony Deonarine (T&T) by TKO 2nd round.
Raul Franciska (Baas Sports Curacao) won Martin Joseph (T&T) by TKO 3rd round.
Only the experienced Devon Ramkallawan was a little too strong for Justin Gogulski.


4-men tournaments April 1 2011. Argenio Pieters from Baas Sports won the 1st place after 2 great victories. Andre Alias (60 kg 16 year) from Baas Sports won the 1st place after winning an opponent of 65 kg 22 year. Grego Scharbaai and Timothy Cordilia, both won 2nd places.

April 30 2011 CABA/ Baas Sports Curacao participated with four boxers @ the boxing competition of Arubox in Aruba.

May 30 2011 boxers from Baas Sports (Braizel Crispulo, Justin Gogulski, Argenio Pieters and Nezar Regales) won their boxing bouts.
Stephen Nahr (No Limit Boxing Land Curacao) 70.5 kg won Mikel Mercera (Kamakura Bonaire) 69.7 kg
Braizel Crispulo (Baas Sports Curacao) -81 kg won Kyle Janzen (Kamakura Bonaire) -81 kg
Justin Gogulski (Baas Sports Curacao) 61.5 kg won Porres Sarabia (Thai Flying Dragon Curacao) 64.3 kg
Argenio Pieters (Baas Sports Curacao) 55.2 kg won Ogilvy Sietajen (Simson gym Suriname) 56.1 kg
Nezar Regales (Baas Sports Curacao) 71.6 kg won Cedric Manhoef (Simson gym Suriname) 72.2 kg and also the Wilson "Papa" Godett Trophy 2011

CUMAFE MMA championships 2011 Mohamed Hussein and Rob Gogulski, both from Baas Sports, won the 1st prizes. Mohamed in Middleweight (-84 kg) and Rob in Heavyweight. Andre Alias from Baas Sports Curacao wonthe 2nd place in bantamweight after a victory on Paul Vilanueva Carbagal from Bonaire.

Kevin Heyer, born in Curacao in 1996, trains at Days gym Almere and became multiple times youth champion of The Netherlands. He won the titles of both WMTA (World Muay Thai Association) and UMC (Undisputed Muay-Thai Council).

@ The Curacao Rumble August 27 2011 there were 9 Boxing matches under supervision of CABA, 5 MMA fights under supervision of CUMAFE and a lot of entertainment like; Dance Xpress ring-girls, Brassband J's Dream Revolution, Crystal Dreamz, Los BK-Clan, rapper Juna, DJ Mr. Cash and ring announcer Mario Marques.

Zianni Fluoania (Baas Sports) won the ladies division at the first fight of the night.
Jemuel Cleofa (Baas Sports Curacao) won Mikel Mercera (Bonaire) by RSC.
Raul Franciska (Baas Sports Curacao) won Kyle Janzen (Bonaire) by KO 1st round.
Kevin Lee (Aruba) won Kelien Pengel (Thai Flying Dragon).
Porres Sarabia (Baas Sports Curacao) won Shawn Ray Koolman (Aruba).
Adrian Albertz (Aruba) won Stephen Nahr (No Limit team Curacao).
Justin Gogulski (Baas Sports Curacao) won Ru-jeunne Pardo by KO 2nd round.
Raymon Erberveld (Haagse Direkte The Netherlands) won Judrison van Sichem (Thai Flying Dragon)
Argenio Pieters (Baas Sports Curacao) won Efi-Jimmy Croes (Aruba).
Baas Sports boxers Gionny Koeijers, Braizel Crispulo and Carlos Netto were prepared to box, but didn't had opponents.
In MMA there was also a victory for Baas Sports fighter Mohamed Hussein.






September 18 Benjey Zimmerman celebrated his birthday in Curaçao with a special training.

Hockey Balboa. September 25 2011 Baas Sports exhibitions @ VRO tournament @ CVV Willemstad. Edwin Baas opened with a warming-up for all hockey players. Boxing by Justin Gogulski and Argenio Pieters. MMA by Rob Gogulski and Mohamed Hussein. Thaiboxing by Palmira Baas and Thalisa Everon.


October 1 2011 MMA Madness @ Curacao Festival Center. The program started with two Thaiboxing fights Porres Sarabia (Baas Sports) vs Keyen Pengel (Thai Flying Dragon) and Justin Gogulski (Baas Sports) vs Shaerickson “Sontje” Eisden (Attaf).
The MMA program had 6 fights Curacao vs Aruba with Mohamed Hussein (Baas Sports) as one of the fighters representing Curacao and fought his first pro fight (UFC rules). According to many, this was the best fight of the night.

Mohamed Hussein (Baas Sports) dominated the first part of the fight. In the second round the fight went over and over again, until finally Hussein in an awkward position and his opponent started to hit the face with elbows. Coach Edwin Baas saw that Hussein could no longer defend against these dangerous attacks and threw the towel to end the fight. Still a very good performance of Mohamed Hussein.
Aruba won 5 fights, only David Manuel won for Curacao his Aruban opponent.

October 15 2011 “Honor and Respect 2011” victories for Jean-Louis Ignatius, Justin Gogulski and Argenio Pieters. These 3 fighters from Baas Sports won their kickboxing fights. Karateka Redferne Regales from Raul Martial Arts also won his first kickboxing fight.

November 12 2011 Fierce and Furious SXM Sint Maarten Fighters from Sint Maarten, Martinique, Suriname and Sergio Pique won Aaron Ware (USA), Rodney Glunder won Osiptsov (England) and Evan Nedd (Aruba) won in MMA Joe Fagiano (USA). From Curacao Argenio Pieters and Jean-Louis Ignatius both by close split decisions. Jemyma Betrian won convincing.

Jemyma also won February 26 2011 the Mixfight award for best female kick-boxer and she won out of more than 100 boxers the Golden Girl Award. At an A-class tournament in Boras Sweden January 15 and 16 2011 she won all her matches and won Gold in the weight class -54 kg.
In Quito (Ecuador)Jemyma qualified Pan-Am games by winning Christina Cruz (USA) with 17-4. Cruz won Golden Gloves and CNN was following (and sponsoring) these American boxer.
October 2011 Jemyma made her r entree to kickboxing and won Nevenka Mikulic (Croatia) in Pandova Italia @ the Muay-Thai Premier League.
November 12 2011 she won Mellony Geusjes (Mike's gym) @ Fierce & Furious Kickboxing/MMA event in Sint Maarten. December 23 2011 Jemyma won Lorena Klijn (Gym Haarlem) in Paramaribo Suriname.

Tessa van Stenus and Ruben Schot won their boxing matches in The Netherlands.
October 9 Cesar Gonzalez won in Amsterdam his MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fight.
October 15 Suriel Hooker won in Germany with 23-7. October 28-30 was Suriel's 44th victory by winning Krisztian Horvath (Hungary) in Austria.



December 17 2011 MMA Madness 2nd edition. The program started with two boxing matches Grego Scharbaai 63 kg (Baas Sport) won Clinton Esprit 70 kg (Bob Esprit), Argenio Pieters 56 kg (Baas Sports) vs Shaerickson Eisden 61 kg (Attaf) and an exhibition Muay-Thai Jean Louis Ingnatius vs Joost Mulder, both from Baas Sports.
The main program consisted of six MMA fights on UFC rules.
Justin Gogulski (61) Baas Sport Curacao won during his MMA debut Ruvinsky Lopez (65,5) by TKO in the second round. Interesting note is that in 2005 Lopez became freefight champion of Curacao by winning in the final Justin's brother Jermaine Gogulksi. So Justin took revenge for his older brother.
Dennis Helder (68) Thai Flying Dragon won Shaedemir Jansen (69,5) Aruba by TKO 1st round, Nezar Regales (69,5) Attaf won Jose Reyes Jr. (69,5) Aruba by TKO 1st round, Jairzinho Kowsoleea (69,5) Attaf won Stacey Hassell (66) Aruba by submission 1st round, Mohammed Hussein (81) Baas Sports Curacao won Cesar Geerman (83,3) Aruba by submission round and Anthony Ignacio (92,5) was the only Arubian who won this night by defeating Rudsel Nisia (89,5) Thai Flying Dragon.
